It’s getting harder and harder to find good domain names that aren’t yet registered. You can try the resellers route but if you’re trying to get into a hot topic then you’ll be paying through the nose for it.
However I have found this little tool which helped me get a reasonable new domain for my new project. Actually it didn’t come up with the one I ended up using but it gave me an idea and I translated it into something that rolls off the tongue a bit easier.

You need to be careful some of those tools register domain names generated by those tools that aren’t purchased immediately!

Thanks for the resource, I have actually found aitdomains to be a good source, but this one sounds like it might be worth checking out.

I’ve found that people simply don’t use enough creativity when trying to get a domain name. Many times all that’s required is “–” instead of just one “-”.
For example bobswidgets or bobs-widgets may be taken but it’s really easy to get bobs–widgets. We’re going to have to start using more symbols in our URLs if the expansion of the Internet continues.
