I will try upgrading my Wordpress install and see if that helps. <strong>update </strong>I found the setting I needed to change on the Options>General page. I was looking for it in a what I thought would be a logical place under "discussions". As for the Alexa toolbar, I use a non alexa Firefox extension which also includes Googles page rank.
