John Edwards runs for president

Being a little out of touch with US politics my first reaction to this headline was that they must be joking.

In my part of the world the best known John Edwards is the guy from Crossing Over TV show where he allegedly contacts the audiences dead relatives. I was imagining a president that would be contacting everyone’s dear departed nanna’s for guidance on how to run the country.

Though I’m thinking it might be an improvement on the current presidents guidance coming from his father and his chronies.

Drunk Domain Names

As a little piece of advice for all the aspiring internet moguls, don’t go domain name shopping after you’ve had a few drinks. I’m now the not so proud owner of businessboook.com. Did you note the three o’s in boook ?

I should have noticed this before I bought it, I blame the damn suggestion tool that put it in front of me. If my mind had been in a rational space I would have realised that the name I thought I was getting would have been long gone.

Oh well, on the bright side I only paid retail for it, if I’d paid a premium for it with a domain broker I’d really be kicking myself.

PPC Arbitrage update

Back here I wrote about my previous attempts at PPC arbitrage and how I was looking at doing it again. I haven’t had a lot of free time lately so I haven’t done a great deal about.

What I did do was sign up for a second tier PPC search engine and plugged in the same search terms I had been using with adwords and sending them to the same page I had used in the past.

At the moment my results are as follows :

PPC spend $0.24 (4 clicks)
Income :$18.41

Return on Investment (ROI) 7670%

To be honest the results are freaking me out, If i could maintain the same ROI and spend $100 a month on PPC I’d be making over $7500 a month.

It’s nice to dream isn’t it. I’ve been around long enough to know that I could never hope to maintain that sort of ratio. Other people doing the same thing are reporting ROI of somewhere between 180% and 600%. ie for every $1 they spend on PPC they are earning somewhere between $1.80 and $6.00.

I’m sure it will balance out over a period of time. I will have to make some time to explore it more
